10 Departments

ODIHA OFFICES IN EACH OF THE TEN DEPARTMENT IN HAITI

ODIHA is soliciting members of the Haitian Diaspora to sponsor several offices in Haiti’s ten departments. These offices are necessary for local cooperation and economic development. Working together with local officials to build capacity and opportunity for investment. If you want to sponsor an office, please click here.

Artibonite

The department is bordered to the north by North and North-West, on the west the Gulf of Gonave, the south West and the east and Centre.

Centre

The department played a big part in the Revolution serving as maroon territory extending to the Baoruco.

Grand’Anse

The department is bordered in the north by the Gulf of Gonave, west by the Windward Passage connecting to Jamaica, south by the South Department, and east by the Nippes Department.

Nippes

The department of Nippes is characterized by a relief consisting of plains, valleys and mountains. It has 3 important watersheds identified at the country level.

North

Located in Haiti’s capital city of Port-au-Prince, the Citadelle La Ferriere is a massive fortress that was originally built to protect Haitian slaves from France and provide protection for any future rebellions.

North-East

After the Treaty of Ryswick, the town fell into the hands of the French and they establish the town of Fort-Dauphin the actual Fort-Liberty.

North-West

Capois-Lamort (dit Francois) commander of Port-de-Paix is a signatory of the Haitian Declaration of Independence. Francois Cappoix the brilliant and vaillaint Haitian officers

West

The National Museum of Haiti is located in Port-au-Prince, and it houses a collection that includes artifacts from the country’s history.

South-East

Jacmel, on the southern coast of Haiti, is Haiti’s second largest city and a popular destination for travelers.

South

The Saut-Mathurine Waterfall is located near the town of Fond Jean Marie Vincent, and it features a massive waterfall that drops around 400 meters into a river below.

Representing the Haitian Diaspora Worldwide

There are approximately 4.5 million Haitians living in different part of the world sending 3 billion dollars to Haiti each year to support their family members.  Working with local officials in France, United States, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and other localities, ODIHA has developed relationship that would permit it to better represent and defend the rights of its members in these countries. Housing Advocacy

Housing is a matter of survival, and each community deserves safe and habitable housing. ODIHA has experienced Housing Advocates who will assist members with their housing needs including issues with landlord. If you are a member of ODIHA, you can receive these services for free. Whether you live in New York, Florida, Massachusetts, or in Sarcelles, or Les Yvelines, France, ODIHA can help you with your housing needs

Integration of the Haitian Diaspora in Haiti

ODIHA through its office in Haiti is working diligently with all stakeholders to support a Constitutional Amendment that would allow members of the Haitian Diaspora full participation in all social and political aspects of Haiti. The Haitian Diaspora is Haiti’s last hope and working together we can promote democracy, good governance and turn Haiti into the country it could be. We need you to join us in this grand endeavor of nation building.

Educational Opportunities

ODIHA is planning to open LPN and CNA schools in New York, Florida and Massachusetts. The not-for-profit school is designed to train the next generation of Haitian Diaspora caregivers. Jobs and economic opportunity are important to our community, and working together we can make great progress.

Job Placement

ODIHA has developed a very effective career development program to help its members find jobs all over the United States. We provide job training that would allow its members to find and remain employed. These services are vital to the success of our community. We work with local organizations to ensure that our members have access to this service.

Immigration Services

ODIHA provides immigration assistance free of charge to its members. Our in-house experienced legal counsel will assist our members with immigration applications. If you have not sign-up as a member of ODIHA please do so now. (Click here to sign up for membership).
